# Policies

## Setting Terms of Service

* Navigate to **Members App → Policies** from the left sidebar
* In the **Terms of Service** text area, enter your complete terms text
* Click **Save Changes** to publish your policies
* Your terms will be immediately visible to members on your portal

## Member Signup Experience

When new members sign up for your space:

* Your terms of service will be displayed during the registration process
* Members must accept these terms before completing their signup
* This creates a clear agreement between your space and each member
* The timestamp of acceptance is recorded for your records, along with which version of the Terms they accepted

## Advanced consent settings

Optional. Leave this off to keep the current signup checkbox.

* Turn on **Advanced consent settings** for stricter wording, and to show extra options
* **Key terms** — a short summary on the signup page. Leave blank to hide it
* **Require scrolling to accept** — members must scroll through the full Terms before they can check the box

## Writing Effective Terms of Service

Your terms of service should include:

* **Rules of conduct** for members using your space
* **Usage guidelines** for shared facilities and resources
* **Privacy information** regarding member data
* **Payment terms** for memberships and services
* **Cancellation policies** for bookings and memberships

## Formatting Tips

* Use clear, simple language that members can easily understand
* Organize content with headings and bullet points for readability
* Include contact information for questions about policies
* Consider having your terms reviewed by a legal professional

## Why Policies Matter

Well-written policies help:

* Set clear expectations for your community
* Reduce misunderstandings and conflicts
* Provide a reference point for dispute resolution
* Protect your business legally

When updating your policies, consider notifying members about significant changes through email or your group chats.
